ALEXANDER DISSECTS A ‘BAD NIGHT’

Graham Alexander was disappointed with his Bantams’ display, after tonight’s 2-0 defeat to Forest Green Rovers in Sky Bet League Two.

The City boss criticised how his side began, but Alexander also broke down the reaction to going a goal behind, admitting “they have to do better.”

“It was a really bad night for us,” he said.

“Conceding the goal that early set us back, when we should be better from the beginning.

“We were too deep and stepping backwards. It became a difficult night very quickly.

“The early goal allowed them to kill the momentum we were pushing on them at any given point.

“We were too slow in the first half, and where our play sped up in the second half, we were not able to capitalise on that.

“We could have been playing until three o'clock in the morning, and we would not have scored.

“Playing into their hands did not help. We did not have enough patience or positive decision making. We have to do better.”

Alexander admits frustration comes from the inability to follow up Saturday's Accrington victory with another win, and that maintaining consistency will be a key factor if City still want to be successful this season.

“That is where the major frustration lies,” Alexander added.

“We wanted to build up on a fantastic performance against Accrington.

“Every game is a perfect opportunity to push towards the play-offs, and tonight was no difference.

“Perhaps, it is inconsistency. We have to start the game in a better fashion.

“Equally, if that happens, we need to react better.

“We could not find that clinical edge, and that crucial goal was missing.

“Opportunities for the play-offs are still there, and we can still push.

“There is a chance to bounce back on Saturday, and there is a real chance to show what we can do.”
